How the guess works
The tool checks your input against a dictionary of around 80 common US vendor names mapped to eight Schedule C-style categories: Food, Transport, Telecom, Supplies, Marketing, Equipment, Education, Other. A longer keyword match boosts confidence. If no keyword matches, we return Other with zero confidence so you can categorise manually.
The categories follow the same buckets Expra uses on iPhone, where the OCR step lifts the vendor name from the receipt photo before category assignment.

Is this tax advice?
No. This is a categorisation hint only. Tax treatment depends on your jurisdiction, entity type, and business purpose. Consult a qualified tax professional or CPA before filing.
Why did it return "Other"?
The vendor name does not match any keyword in our dictionary. Real-world receipts from regional or non-US vendors usually need manual category assignment.
Do you store what I type?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
What does Expra add over this?
Expra reads the receipt photo, lifts vendor and amount automatically, applies category, and rolls up monthly and yearly totals for tax export.
